Services For Education’s music curriculum team of over 200 training and coaching staff, use ReelPlatform to support learning and development, ensure consistency of approach and share best practice across their geographically diverse team.

White labelled as ReelMusic, Services for Education also use the video platform to sell their existing content into other regional music hubs, including The University of Birmingham’s Department of Music to support the on-going training of music coaches and trainers across the UK.

CLIENT BACKGROUND

Services for Education’s Music Service is a charity that brings music education to children, young people, adults and communities.

Across the UK they support schools, music hubs and higher education institutions to achieve this goal. ReelMusic enables all instrumental/vocal coaches, trainers and practitioners to access online, video-based content and share best practice in their field.

CLIENT CHALLENGES

The geographical spread of the music hub teams means getting together for face-to-face training is logistically difficult and cost prohibitive.

They were limited in the ways they could share best practice and collaborate with other trainers, coaches and practitioners. ReelMusic solves this problem.

What they had to say

ReelPlatform have helped us to ensure our disparate teaching team are training to the same standards and are developing a consistency of approach. We have found the team at ReelPlatform really easy to work with and our staff love the site.

PROJECT BACKGROUND

ReelMusic was developed in 2016. The platform’s unique thematic search functions were tailored to provide a structured learning and development narrative and support coaches when accessing content.

Users can explore content by different instrumental themes and subjects, helping them to quickly and easily find the video clips they need. The search metadata is fully aligned with the needs of each user and is informed by music curriculum requirements.

The site is fully white labelled and branded as a Services For Education product, to sit seamlessly within their corporate offer.

The ReelPlatform team supported Services For Education to develop their video content across the site. Working alongside music education specialists and our film production team, ReelPlatform produced over 200 clips that exemplify different areas of teaching theory and practice.

Following the creation of ReelMusic, Services For Education has become self-sufficient in managing the site. A on-going close relationship with the ReelPlatform team means that they are able to continue to grow and develop the platform content.

A key element of this relationship is the recognition and support that ReelPlatform has provided in enabling Services For Education to take a more commercially minded approach to the platform. This has enabled them to reach out and sell access to ReelMusic across the UK’s wider network of music hubs.

PROJECT RESULTS

ReelMusic sits at the heart of Services For Education’s music staff training provision. The engagement in learning and development has increased ten-fold across the organisation, with all music staff accessing best practice videos at least once a month.

The platform has also allowed Services For Education to sell on their training content, and they recently celebrated their seventh music hub sale. With each new hub come hundreds of new users to the site.

The opening up of this new and recurring revenue stream has meant that Services For Education has recouped the original investment in video content and platform set up of ReelMusic whilst creating a sustainable commercial revenue stream. Using the site to support the organisation commercially, brings with it the opportunity to develop more content, which makes the platform a more attractive proposition for future clients.
